Oh, my most favorite part of the season...the elf or in this case the elves are back! I didn't catch as much of their shenanigans on camera this year but we were surprised to find a second elf assigned specifically to B this year! She was so excited as she had wanted her own to name so she got to pick his name all on her own. And his name is...Oly!
And to ring in the season each year we celebrate the first week with the annual Christmas parade. This year was a little different as i have been asked to help head up the parade for next year. I was trying to learn the ropes all evening with friends that will be helping along side me. It was a lot to take in but the kids all had fun waiting around for it to start.
And afterwards where they had the chance to talk to the big guy themselves. They told him all their wants and must haves this year.
Little B just couldn't get enough of him!
And the old committee ushering in the new...I look forward to trying to improve what the city has to offer in the way of Christmas festivities next year!
That weekend we spent time with the McCaslin's. Bobo even met us for lunch at Dave and Buster's where the kids managed to have a little fun if you can believe that.
And then afterwards we even headed over to the trampoline park. We were really trying to wear them out so that we could go home and watch the whole season of Friday Night Lights. And guess what it worked.
But not before we managed to get everyone good and full. We went to Bravo where the hit of the dinner was the dough these kids shaped into all kinds surprises.
And just because..we all felt a little ill after all that food! Like mother like daughter right B.
And once again...we are getting good use out of these costumes this year. It was dress up day and it was actually a mad hatter themed Disney day so this costume was the perfect fit.
No idea what day this was...tha't not a good sign when the outfits dont give it away!
And most importantly was B's goal of losing her two front teeth for Christmas. But we only managed to get one out. We were actually driving down the interstate to Texarkana when she said my tooth is really loose now and then just like that she pulled it out. I was shocked. She was SOOO Brave. And soooo Proud!
We had even just ordered her a pillow when we realized it was getting loose. Luckily it had come in the day before just in time to put it under her pillow.
And it appears we weren't the only one that was excited about her coming. These two apparently had so much fun with her that she forgot and left the tooth with the money! But don't worry she must of came back later when she realized because it was gone with a note...oopsie!!
Ab had her Christmas program at school and the whole group did a great job singing hymns and Christmas carols.
That Wednesday night we were blessed to watch these precious kiddos put on one of the cutest skits i have seen. The setting was a dress rehearsal for a church program. So yes the costumes are a bit out of whack, but the acting skills and singing voices of these kids was right on track. I was so proud of AB for remembering all her lines and for the duet she sang. And B sang her little doggie heart out as well.
Bobo and Sheshe, Nana and Pop, and Pop and Nicki were all there to cheer them on.
But their favorite part came afterwards when we had the cookie reception.
Precious cousins and even better friends!
Friday brought dress up day at school and the ending to a semester of learning and good times.
B's class went to the nursing home to sing so i stopped by and caught her in action. The sweetest part came after they were done when all the kids went out into the crowd to give them all a hug. Precious doesn't cover it.
B and her old friend Chandler. Lashonda had this picture framed for me and it is just precious. I can't believe this boy has grown into a man overnight. So thankful for this family's friendship.
And just to make sure the girls didn't forget...the elves gave them a little reminder about the reason for the season. This is my manager scene i have had since I was a child. It has suffered a few mishaps along the way but all the most important parts still remain.
Just one night we were dying to have a fire it had finally gotten cold enough so dad made us a fire while we curled up with a Hallmark Christmas movie. But not before they ate their yogurt bars in front of the fire...it was a race to finish before they melted.
These two even came up with a clever way to make sure they never got left behind on the weekends. They squeezed themselves into jars so that way the girls could carry them with them when we left.
On Saturday, we had the chance to decorate some cookies with friends. There were tons of cookies and lots of licking!
The kids went til Wednesday this year for school so B had her party Tuesday and AB on Wednesday. I was happy to be able to make both of them. B was so excited to wear her pjs that day to school and to hand out her gifts to her friends.
This was a last minute pinterest project gone wrong! We were making these cute little elf donuts and it seemed it would be an easy project but for some reason they all stuck together and looked like elf poo instead of donuts. So we went late that night to the dollar tree and found back up...Apple O's in red and green with sprinkles! Sometimes Plan B turns out better than plan A...
Plus the kids loved them!
All sass and spunk!
B and Mrs. Bingham
And her pottery baby Jesus she made.
The next day AB and I went and delivered the teachers their gifts. I think they were pleased with what they got. I figured they would find a use for these one way or another.
And then she also passed out her gifts to the class which they all used as breakfast that day..they were gone in a matter of seconds.
And now on to the good stuff...Christmas Break!! I was so excited to be off with these girls for some quiet time and that is what we did...with a little fun mixed in of course. Merry Christmas and adios to school for two whole weeks!!
