We are so blessed to have family spread far and near and in some instances we even like the ones in Texas! My cousin Colin hooked us up with tickets to the TCU game in Fort Worth one weekend when the Razorbacks were in town and the whole family had a blast exploring the old downtown. We tried out the world famous Joe T Garcia's...i love this place but it was the kids first time and they ran all over the outside exploring the huge back patio.
And we even took time to explore the hotel which was fabulous if i do say so myself. It was within walking distance to most of the places we went that weekend. It also had some of the coolest decor which is one of my favorite things about trying new places.
This really is a terrible picture of the two of us...but the kids were so proud for taking it i had to post!
The next morning we headed out to explore the Fort Worth Stockyards and while i wasn't sure I remembered all that it had to offer I was excited to at least see something new for the girls.
and even bumped into a HOG or two! Razorback Nation's own DJ Williams to be exact.
But one of my favorite parts was trying out the longhorns!! The girls were a little hesitate but i showed them how it was done. Mine was a bit of a character though so the girls waited for the next guy to come along! and yes, it was about to cut me with those big things...I was freaking out but trying to smile so the kids wouldn't back out!
They had the coolest maze that was made of cow pens that the girls managed their way through that morning.
and even made friends with a few barnyard animals as well.
But our favortie part was the stampede where we got up close and personal with a few of our Texan friends.
and then afterwards we made our way to the biggest bar in Texas or anywhere maybe Billy Bob's of TExas. The girls were amazed at how big it was and how much they had to do there. WE even tried our turn at the rodeo...hehehe! Dad has some learning to do!
I think this was the photo where the man said hold on i got to show you something...and little did we know this wasn't your average bull it was a bucking bull and it gave us a ride!
That day after lunch the girls and I walked over to the downtown Water Gardens. I had researched a few things to do but wasn't sure what to expect there and I was amazed!
But we did it and it was so cool once you got to the bottom...the sound of the water was deafening!
That afternoon after a little tailgating with family dad went on into the game and the girls and i decided to head to the zoo. They each had a few dollars to pick an activity that day and AB picked the Kendra Scott store for a new necklace and little B wanted to go to the zoo! We didn't have much time so it was a speed walking tour but this zoo puts other to shame. The exhibits were so natural and the entire park was gorgeous. We will definitely be back!
This was just part of one exhibit of tigers.
and then that night the girls and I had the best dinner in the square. We made our way back to the hotel just in time to watch the Hogs pull out a win...so daddy came home really happy!
Before we left town the next day the girls had to get daddy out there to show him the gardens as well.
And in keeping with the rodeo theme we got home and were able to go to the Four States Rodeo bull riding competition that week. I had some tickets given to me and they were right up front so these kids never took their eyes off the arena as these bullriders kept them on the edge of their seats!
We did our best to cowgirl it up for the night!
Just a little pic the teacher sent me one day during school. I love to get pictures that remind me just how much fun my kids are having each day while learning of course...
A little pre school breakfast to celebrates Wynn's big day!
and not really sure if this pic fits in the timeline of events..pretty sure i just overlooked it before but this was from our last weekend on the lake a few weeks previous when Katie Ella tried out the tube for an afternoon with us.
And just like that it was time to celebrate these two birthday kiddos. We had a little neighborhood gathering before all the festivities began!
Now on to the big day!
