Chi Town Spring Break!

We made an impromptu Spring break vacation to Chicago this year.  I finally had the kids pick one place they wanted to go and gave them 3 options.  So we loaded up the car and headed out.  I love a good road trip..wouldn't say there was much to see along the way but we made the most of it even in the wee hours as we got to Chi-town!

The water still had a bit of green from the previous weekend's festivities for St. Patricks Day!

We started them off right with a trip to Giordano's!

Dinner over looking Michigan Ave.!
We hit the ground running the very first day with a walking tour of the city on the way to Hamilton!!
The highlight for me was this...Hamilton!!  The whole family went to see the original showing and the cast was out of this world!  We all gave it a two thumbs up!

A trip to Chicago is not complete without a trip to see the bean..we made sure to catch it at every angle!

One of the highlights of the trip for us all was seeing my cousin Nathan and his family who live in Chicago. It has been a while since we all caught up and dinner and snacks with these cute girls was so much fun for us all.  I wish we could do it more often...maybe we should...I don't think after this trip the girls would have any problem going back.  They loved it in the big city!

It was so great to see our Chicago friends in their town.  They are so good about coming south and visiting that it was about time we returned the favor.  Next time, we need more time to visit and a little warmer weather to really get to enjoy each other's company!

The view of the Navy Pier from our room was pretty spectacular!
It doenst' hurt to stop and give it a try..haha!  I knew how good it was but now they do too!

And this was B's choice!!
A room with a view of the beautiful Lake Michigan...much prettier from the inside on that chilly day!
The Skydeck was an amazing experience but one that I am glad we had before the recent crack in the space that was on the news.  I was freaked out enough to walk out on that platform but if  I knew it was capable of cracking there would have been no way.

Navy Pier

Chicago Museum of Art

I tried explaining how amazing it was the girls were seeing these painting up close and personal but not sure they quite understood.  B was more entertained by the usage of body art that was on display! HA!

We made a trip back to the Navy Pier for some ferris wheel action right before dusk.

Lunch at the Sugar Factory was a hit with the girls..and mom too.  It had the most amazing menu of treats and eats.  We all had to get a bite!

Nighttime in Chicago..is there anything better than a city at night?!

A little fun on the Magnificent Mile!
Chinatown

A secret resturant...how cool is this!

Eataly...is amazing!!

The road trip back home got a little long so we stopped over in St. Louis for a few hours at the City Museum..although a few hours is never enough time at this fabulous hub for kids and adults!

And last but not least a stop at the Arch...I have been up there before with AB as a child and so this time we opted for a photo and no tour..otherwise I would have been one sick momma on the drive home.
Good times had by all..these trips with the family are my favorite! I love sharing adventures with this amazing crew!
