A Long Walk

Addie Blaire and I decided to take a walk today with Zoe. She loves Zoe and so she begged for her to go, which I knew was not the best idea but I did it anyway. Well, for those that haven't seen Zoe she is our 3 legged mutt buddy from the animal shelter. I rescued her the day before she was going to be put down. (Which is a great idea for anyone looking for a new pup!! They will thank you for the rest of there days, I truly believe they know you saved them) Now off my soap box, so anyways, I posted the pictures of exactly how the walk started and ended....

We started out with Addie Blaire in stroller, me jogging and Zoe doing the best to keep up..
It soon changed to me walking, Zoe in the stroller and Addie Blaire doing the best to keep up...
It ended with these two little stinkers in the stroller and one very tired and hot mom trying to keep up!!!
Addie Blaire and I spent the weekend in Little Rock since Mitch was in a golf tournament. We had a great time. I got to babysit my nephew Mason, Friday night so his mom and dad could go out. On Saturday, Addie and I went to visit my friend Grace and her precious little girl, Ellen Claire. Then we went with Brandee and Mason to the zoo and afterwards to Purple Cow. That night we even went to Bonefish, my first time and for those that have raved about it to me, I now know why. It was really good or at least what I remember of it. Addie Blaire and Mason had other plans than to sit there for a nice dinner!! We came back and spent the night with Nana and Pop because Janice was out of town. We took a few trips to the farm which Addie Blaire loves because she gets to sit up front in my dad's farm truck and she thinks that is pretty cool!
Checking out the snakes!!! so scary.
Addie's first time on the carousel at the zoo.
Digging in to some purple ice cream from the Purple Cow.She loves this hat of my mom's. She puts it on every time we are at the house. It did make for some cute pictures though.
Hanging out with G (taken a few weeks ago)
This was from a couple of weekends ago also, we took the kids for a spin on the wheeler.

Abc song and Jesus Loves Me

Warning: Please excuse the crazy mom at the end of the video, I sound like I should be on that show about the stage moms!

Addie Blaire sings so many different things so the other night my mom and I tried to pin her down and get her to sing some of her songs so that I could get it on video. We were not so lucky. This child has a mind of her own and she was not in the mood to perform. At one point she even said to me"mommy put down that phone" so I guess she has figured me out! I was able to get her abc's and part of Jesus loves me. I am working on trying to get a few more. I am so excited now to know how to post these because it will be a very easy way for her to look back on these first years without going through the piles of videos I have already taken!

Watermelon Festival - "Hey wait on me guys!"

I had decided to run in the Watermelon 5k several months ago, but with the week I had leading up to the race I wasn't sure if I was going to run or not. The morning of the race I woke up and decided to do it anyway. I hadn't had the chance to run that week or even the week before so I was a little nervous I wouldn't be able to run the whole race. I have been trying to run when I get the chance the only problem is that it is only normally once or twice a week at the most that I am able to do so. I actually really enjoyed running in the race it had been awhile since I had done one and was relieved to realize that I was able to finish. (not without a little encouragement, thanks Robyn carter for pushing me through the finish line.) AND BEST of ALL, I actually won a medal in my age division. I know, I was completely shocked myself, there must have only been three of us in my division but still none the less it is on display at my house, proudly the only medal I will probably ever win!! I finished in 30 minutes and something. A decent showing considering my lack of training. After the race, everyone said their kids were doing the mile run (actually it is just over 1/2 a mile) so I went and picked up Addie Blaire and she came ready to run! "G" met us there and walked it along side her, she did a really good job of trying to keep up even though she was a little young for the concept. She even said at one point "hey, wait on my guys!" It was too funny because her little legs just couldn't keep up. She did win her own little medal though, amazing they even get one when they finish LAST!! Don't worry baby, we will train and get them next year. For those that have witnessed Addie Blaire's run it is very unique, she sort of twists as she runs, it is too cute but doesn't make her the fastest in the bunch. Here are some pics from her big race and the watermelon afterwards.

Addie Blaire, like her mother started off strong, it was the finish that was tough for us both.
She was so proud of her medal.
The big runners, ready to celebrate with watermelon!
Addie Blaire loves some watermelon so it is a good thing she lives in the watermelon capitol of the world.
Enjoying her snack with her cousin Lilly.
Getting ready for the watermelon golf tournament party. She stole the show with her dance moves on the dance floor. It was just too bad that she was the only one dancing, although she never cared she just kept right on going.
She got her 2nd haircut a week or so before the picture. She actually has a few little swoop bangs now and it is getting pretty long, so we are trying some new hairstyles these days.

My Grandpa Bass

My grandpa Bass passed away on August the 4th. He was an wonderful grandpa and great-grandpa. He had been pretty sick for years and he had just recently developed double pneumonia, which is unfortunately why he was in the hospital when he passed away. He was 88 years old. It was a very hard week for my whole family, but most of all my grandmother whom he had been married to for over 59 years. I know she will be lost without him. The funeral was definitely a sad time, but I was so proud of my grandpa because he was a World War II veteran and the military helped to give him a fitting service. He was one of the guys that we read about in history books. He stormed the beaches of Normandy, was in Patton's army and even won a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his efforts. I will forever be grateful to him for his service to our country. I had never been apart of a military service and it proved to me what great respect even the soldiers today have for those who served before them.

My grandpa loved little Addie Blaire and he wanted to see her every chance I could get her his way. He was pretty confined the past few years so he wasn't able to travel to see her, but he was so determined to see her right after she was born that he made the trip to our house. I took some pictures that day and pretty much every time since when we have been together because I realized that our time is precious with our grandparents and we can't take those times we get together for granted. The pictures I attached below are from that very visit after she was born, out of all the pictures I have taken this one is the sweetest because it isn't hard to see the love he has for this little one just by the smile on his face. We love you and will miss you dearly papaw.

Addie Blaire singing "my favorite things"!

I finally figured out how to attach a video. I know I am a little behind the rest of the world, I am okay with it though. I caught Addie Blaire singing my favorite things tonight before she was going to bed. She was so tired she was a little delirious, she has been fighting sleep these days and it was almost 10 o'clock (way past her bedtime). It isn't the best I've heard her sing it because it seems like every time I get a camera or video out she gets quiet, but at least I have it on video now.
