Stand By Me..summer is coming to a close!

We landed back in town one evening and were off for life in Hot Springs the next morning.  It all started with a weekend on the lake with my family reunion and then that Monday I was off to my new job.  In a matter of weeks what I had seen coming for over a month was already here.  I was thankful for a weekend with family and friends and lots of smiles from some pretty special kiddos!!

My cousin Thad from Alabma and his sweet kiddos came!

Thanks to my cousin Abbey for all the great photos of the weekend!

The guys doing a little cooking....and it turned out to be a little more smoking of the hamburgers but these two saved the day and we still had food to eat!

That night we followed up dinner with some mini golf with this crazy crew!

Love all these sweet faces and so thankful  for our time together!

Until next year... lots of smiles and happy faces thanks to time spent together with those we love the most!
And then we started life in Hot Springs, just like that I was off to my new job in Little Rock and the girls were off for a week of fun at Family Farm!  But before we knew it summer would be over and school was ready to start!
up next...A new school and a new year here we come ready or not!!

California Dreamin Part 2 - Welcome to Hollywood!

Part 2 of our dreamy vacay picks up as we headed up the coast from Laguna.  We stopped at every single beach along the way just so my husband couldn't say this was not a beach vacation like he requested.  The first stop was lunch at Seal Beach.

And a photo with the seal..we had to!

And the mother ship of all grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon and macaroni and cheese!  These girls eyes were bigger than their bellies!

Next stop was muscle beach..I think  I watched too many Beach movies with my mom as a girl but this place is iconic in LA.
Venice Beach
Santa Monica Pier for an afternoon of swimming and playing!

And then we moved on to our hotel in the Hollywood Hills.  It was so cool and even had a rooftop tennis court and pool with a view..we took advantage of all of them!

Dinner that night was at AGO.
And the next morning we took off to see the sights of LA.  We started just around the corner at Jessica Biel's Au Fudge.

Followed by one of mom's stops at Pump.   We even walked down the street next to Lisa and Ken Vanderpump which meant nothing to anyone but me of course!!

Followed by the typical tourist hot spots on the Walk of Fame and the Chinese Theater.
They could both win an Oscar for their performances every morning before school!!

The girls even got to try out a set of wheels!!  Yes, I did pay a guy $5 dollars a child to sit in his car but I a pretty sure that was why he had it parked there in the first place.  Next time we will take it for a spin just like on Pretty Woman... Rodeo Drive!

The girls are on a major Mamma Mia kick right now so this was perfect!
We even took a little hike up near the Hollywood sign to get a better view.

Followed by lunch at The Ivy, which was a little fancy for Mitch and I but way too fancy for the girls.  I think we were the only people there with children, actually, I know we were!  I think we took a few stares...but it came recommended so a little too late once we had sat down! My lunch...

And a little stroll down Rodeo Drive...a wee bit too young and too broke for any shopping!
That night we went to the Grove to walk around and guess who I spotted...two of the Dancing with the Stars crew.  I, of course, forced the girls to get pics, but I think they were glad I did so they could share with friends.  Sometimes mom embarrassing you works out!

The whole area was gearing up for Mamma Mia 2 so it was perfect!

Our little home away from home in West Hollywood!

Our last day in LA we gave the girls the option of Disneyland or Warner Brothers and they opted for the later.  We had recently been to Disney so they wanted something different and they both agreed this was their favorite part of the trip.
We took a tour around the lot and the girls were so interested in all the details of how these movies were made and of course their favorite!

Full House!!  This was from the outside but we got to go in the stage area where the actual Fuller HOuse is filmed and the girls were beyond excited!
Gilmore Girls
Dukes of Hazzord, Gilmore Girls you name it this house has been used for it all!
Uncle Jesse's house in Dukes...I was a big fan back in the day so I remember It well.
Harry Potter

And the Bat cave with all the cool wheels!

And we finished with one of my favs...sitting on the Friends set on that famous couch!

We were pretty tired but headed over to Big Boy for some lunch before we hit the road to Malibu through some of the prettiest mountains I have seen!

We ended with an afternoon like some of the locals on the Malibu beaches.  We played in the sand and walked up and down admiring the homes along the coast.  What a perfect way to end a perfect getaway!

This by far has been one of my favorite trips ever and because we planned it last minute and winged it the entire trip it was also the least stressful!  I really look back at all the memories we made and smile because this is the good stuff! This is what having these 3 wonderful people in my life is all about..all the memories we don't see on this post and the laughs we had as we maneuvered the streets of LA well those will be the ones we carry with us for a lifetime!!
