Father/Daughter Dance Weekend!

The annual Father Daughter Dance is finally here.  I am on the committee and this year we decided to move up the date from summer to Valentine's weekend.  That way all the dads could take out their special ladies for a fun evening away.  The girls were sooo excited.  They love this event each year.  This year they both wanted to wear red for Valentine's and we were able to find two of the cutest dresses.
A few quick pics before I had to head out the door to set up.

This year the dance just so happened to fall on Lila's birthday.  So since we were already committed to having to be there she decided to join us.  We tried to make sure it was a birthday she wouldn't forget.  They even all sang happy birthday to her on the dance floor.  She danced the entire night so I think she was happy!

Uncle B with his lady loves!

My big girl is getting so big...I see it as I compare the pictures from year to year.  She still loves to come and was so excited to be in a pair of heels for the evening.
Cutest pair...minus little B who couldn't be contained.  She was all over the place that night.

As you can see by the lipstick speared all over her face she was having a good time and looked beautiful doing it!
Dad found a way to dance with both ladies all night!  Two lucky girls but I believe he just might be luckier to have these two on his arms and in his heart!
Action shots are my fav...and B was ready to break lose.

I thought the committee did such a good job setting up and decorating.  It was really precious inside the room.  My pictures don't do it justice...

Time to kick off the shoes and dance!

Walking the red carpet with these two lovely ladies...framer for sure!!
and an after party selfie to end the night.
Just a little pic my parents sent me from a trip to Degray Lake Zoe took with them one afternoon.
The next morning after the dance we were up early because we were headed to celebrate Lila's bday at the diamond mine.  She decided to hold off on her party til later when it warmed up but she had been begging to come hunt for diamonds...so we did.  It wasn't the best weather, but apparently the best weather for finding diamonds as they told us.  The rain didn't stop these girls from trying.

The whole family did their part...unfortunately (or actually being truthful) fortunately Mitch and I had to leave early to get ready for the Heart Ball that night in Texarkana so we missed some of the fun.  I must say after getting these pics I was okay with that!

That afternoon these lovely ladies and I spent getting all dolled up for the evening.  We even had our own hairstylist come to help us out.  I think that was my favorite part of the evening...lost of laughs in that bathroom getting ready and trying out some new hairstyles!
Not my favorite pic of myself but it is the only ones we took.  The braid going down the back of my hair was so pretty wish the pictures showed it off a little better...thanks Jen!

The only pic taken with the hubby all night.  I wish we had tried harder to get a normal photo but this is as good as it gets.
Fun night with friends so glad to get to spend it with this crew!
The next morning we were on the road to pic up the girls in Arkadelphia.  We made it just in time for the tea party.  These girls worked hard on their cupcake creations!

I think these girls have a future in the bakery business...and the tasted as good as they looked!

Great weekend for the whole family!!!  Lots of love to go around!

Pop's 60th Bday!

The post actually starts out with a little weekend fun with friends in Hot Springs.  These girls had a great afternoon bowling and then doing the sky walk and laser tag.  Can you tell who won the round?  All smiles...

AB and Jillian were not afraid they went all over that place however B and I were a bit more hesitant.
This is about as good as it got for us.  I did get her across the first bar but that was all she wanted.  Now she asks to go back all the time because she wants to finish...we shall see but one thing I know is I am not coming after her.  I was a high level ropes course instructor at camps in the summer in college and I learned real quick heights were not my friend!

Ready to take on the boys!
The next Friday night we planned a surprise party for my dad for his 70th birthday.  My mom, sister and I worked out the details and decided on a small group because we knew that is something he would enjoy.  We all got to the Fish Net in Arkadelphia early and when he walked in boy was he surprised.  He loved being greeted by his fan club!!
And then to his surprise his friends were waiting just around the corner!
We had a great meal...I forgot how much I love this place!

And then I had Amanda in my office make one of her spectacular birthday cakes...only problem was Terri lost the 7...luckily my engineer wiz of a brother in law came to the rescue and the hush puppies were put to good use.  By the way they have the best hush puppies ever!!
Classic DAD....I think he liked it better that way.

These girls were so excited to pull off this surprise and see Pop.  Job well done ladies!
Attempts at a family photo...We tried!

It was  great night back at their house hanging out after the party.  So blessed to do life with this whole crew!

Marathon Weekend

The girls and I had been training for this marathon for months...the build up is sometimes worse than the actual race itself as you are going back to back weekend after weekend with long runs.  But the day was finally there and we were ready to do this darn thing!  We met up in Dallas as I was already there with another group of ladies at market.  We spent Friday night with some great food and prepping for the day ahead.
We had to wait around for what seemed like eternity that Saturday morning as this race was different from others i have done in the past.  It started at 2pm.  We slept in and sat around just waiting for the moment we could get out there.  Unfortunately, the winds were so strong that day combined with temps in the upper 70's which made a huge difference considering we had been training for weeks in freezing temps.  It is still January but this weather is always crazy!  As I predicted we all took off and stayed to together for the first few miles and then in an attempt to just not die I let them go ahead and we all finished at our own paces.  Mine being a little slower than others but hey we all got it done!
A few proof pics of the run..unfortunately there was no shade and the course was a big circle that we had the pleasure of going around 4 times (6-7 miles each round) after the first round I was ready to be done...but i was not letting that stop me because we had trained way to long to quit now.
As I told everyone else...slow and steady and that is what I did!  It was a beautiful sunset of the Dallas skyline so I tried to take it all in and forget that last hour.
And just  like that we were done!!  See I told you the skyline was pretty!  That smile is genuine I was sooo glad it was over!  My final time was 4:50 I believe.  My last full 26 mile marathon we did an early start so our time had to be over 5 hours.  This time my goal was to get in under 5 and I DID IT!!
I returned home the next day to a few sweet gesture from the hubby and kids.  So proud of myself for doing this and sticking to the training even when it wasn't easy due to my schedule and work restraints got in the way.   We shall see what the future holds but for now my bucket list is complete.  26 miles checked off!

Snow Day!!

And the year started out with  a movie and a great one.  The greatest showman is now one of our favs.  These kiddos loved it!
Followed by a little hike with cousins in Hot springs.

And then the next week we were all a bit surprised to wake up to several inches of snow!!  This was a first for us in a couple of years so we were so excited we didn't waste any time in getting out there!
Charlie even got to play in it for the first time.

And then we were off.  our church lot was a great spot to pull the kiddos.  We even got creative enough to use and old car hood for the sled which made for some awesome rides.
The girls did this all day...until I got out there and showed them all up.  Paul pulled me on the 4 wheeler with my wakeboard...and for an old lady I still got it!   I was so proud of myself for being able to do it.  But didn't overdo it because my marathon was coming up and I did not want to get hurt after all that training.
These girls are ready for action...goggles even came in handy.

It was a day filled with lots of giggles, a few tears and many memories!
