Dance Recital!

Addie Blaire had her first dance recital this past Memorial day weekend.  It was her third year of dance and each year I can see some improvement.  I know at this age it is hard for them to really comprehend all the moves and such so when she told me she was nervous before the recital I told her it was going to be great and if she forgets everything just "shake your booty!" and boy did she ever take my advice.  That little thing did some groovin and movin.  I was so proud of all the girls because they all got up there and did their thing, which is hard with hundreds of people watching you.  This year AB took tap, ballet and hip hop classes so she got to perform three different dances.  She still says hip hop was her favorite! She must get that from good ole dad!

Thanks to Nicki Purifoy for taking the pictures for me because I was trying to video tape at the same time.  We could only take pictures at rehearsal on stage because they didn't allow cameras.  So the outfits and hair were a little more detailed the next night.  The first dance was tap.  The girls danced to "God Bless Texas" and those cowgirls did a great job!

Next was the hip hop with was to "Uptown girls" and they all did so good.  I must say this was my favorite dance as well cause they all seemed to get into it a little more than the other two.  We did have to make an adjustment the next night because as you can tell by some of the moves in pictures those darn suspenders were holding them back!

If only I could attach the videos pure entertainment at it's best!

Ballet time... the girls danced to "Down in New Orleans" from Princess and the Frog for this one.
She practiced the night before for Mitch and I her twirls and kept asking us which one was the best.  She told us to watch her cause we would be "impressed" and she didn't disappoint!
Recital Night photos...  Btw I was told by my brother in law she looked a little like a "Toddler and Tiara child" so I will admit that I got a little carried away on the makeup!  I guess getting ready with a hairdresser and watching her do it I thought I was capable, next year I think we'll be leaving it to the professionals!

Hip Hop cuties!

I think this is Addie Blaire's way of imitating me that night.  As I mentioned it had been a long week with all the activities and I must say if ever I was on the edge of a nervous breakdown for some reason that week almost did me in with a combination of a crazy work schedule and trying to be around for all the end of year activities and practices.  I definitely had some apologizes to make to some folks that put up with crazy mom for a couple of days!  Let's just say I would never make a good stage mom or pageant mom for that matter, I would be on that toddlers and tiaras for sure!
Silly Girl!

Daddy's little girl!  He was soo proud of her.  He told me several times on the way home how good she did and how proud he was it was pretty awesome to hear and to see Addie's face how proud she was of herself as well.
Addie Blaire was so lucky all our family came to watch her dance she was so excited to see everyone after it was over.
"G" was so nice to drive down for the evening with us.
Pop is always so sweet to come to all the kids events and this was no different. Nicki wasn't feeling well that night so I still owe her several pictures.
Bobo and Mrs. Sharon came down from Hot Springs as well.
Nana and Pop
and Ms. Mackenzie a favorite of Addie's!

Happy Memorial Day! ( a little late so Happy 4th instead!)

Last day of School!

I must say that AB starting school this year was such a change for me that I was so unsure of how her year would go and if she would like it or be happy there, but once she started school all those worries were put to rest.  That girl loved school this year and she didn't want it to end.  So I had mixed feelings on the last day of school because the year had come and gone soo fast and neither of us was ready to say good bye to Mrs. Nations or pre-k buddies.  She was even asking the day after when school started back!  The last day of school they had a play day so it ended with lots of fun and even a slip and slide.  That night we had the Kindergarten graduation which the pre K performs for each year and our Little Boo Peep did such a good job!!

This was the teacher's gift for her sub (because Mrs. Nations badly injured her leg a few weeks before school was out and Ms. Emily had to take over.  So sad to not have Mrs. Nations but Ms. Emily was great as well!) and for Mrs. Murphy the other Pre K teacher.  Mrs. Nations got a back full of goodies and other items to help lift her spirits as she recovered this summer.  The tag read "Thank you for helping me "grow" in God's love! Addie Blaire
All the kiddos went home with some Popsicles that read "Have a "cool" summer! Thanks Pinterest what would a mom do with out ya at the last minute!
Picking up rocks with their toes.
Spoon race holding eggs.
Sack race with Livi.

Britann got to come along for the day as well and had such a good time watching the big kiddos.
She even made a friend of her own!
The sponge race, Addie B put on the jets for this one can't you tell!
She even got to silly string Ms. Emily!  Poor girl got covered that day she was probably wishing Mrs. Nations was there at that point.
Addie Blaire and Emma, buddies!
Addie Blaire, Jillian, Livi and Kaegan trying out the snow cones.
Little sis had to give it a try too!
Showtime!!  Little Bo Peep had all the right gear to round up her little sheep.
My sweet baby girl is growing up.  She just looked so big standing there it makes me so sad how fast it all seems to fly by!
Out looking for her sheep!
Luckily Mrs. Nations was able to make it for showtime.  She had told me nothing was going to stop her from being there.  Such an amazing woman she is!
Cast and all... She even let the kids sign it!
Little Bo Peep and her sheep! Emma and Livi
oh and Mary had a Little Lamb was there too, Darby Kate!
Little Brit was fired up and ready to sissy in action.
Little Bo Peep searching for her sheep.
The kids sang and repeated several nursery rhymes throughout the program. It was sooo stinkin cute all of them dressed up like different characters on stage.
AB and Ms. Emily!
Getting some loving from Mrs. nations afterwards.
All the family came to watch Nicki and Pop and "G".
Nana and Pop and Bobo and Mrs. Sharon were there as well but escaped having their pictures taken!
The last week of school was non stop with school and the program on Tuesday and on Wednesday we had the last kids church gathering for the year.  We had a blow up water slide party and the kids all had so much fun.  Brit wasn't much for the slides but couldn't get enough of this baby!
Darby and AB trying it all out!  They even got prizes for their attendance through the year.

This is Tristan he was Mitch's mentoree during confirmation this year and had never been baptized so they did a little impromptu baptism that night right there in the pool!!  BTW I know what some must be thinking but, hey we are Methodist so where ever the Lord calls us we will be ready regardless of time or place for that matter!!!  Just kidding but in all honesty I am so proud of this young boy that decided (without church attending parents) to make such a big decision is really really heart warming!!

Now on to dance recital practice.....to be continued
