We took a quick little escape to Hochatown, OK over Thanksgiving break. It was totally last minute and we got the only place left, a tiny house but we had a great time! It was nice to get out of town even if it was just for a second.
We went for a hike around the lake and somehow this one managed to get plenty wet!
Charlie certainly enjoyed it!
THe girls and I decided this year since a lot of the food kitchens wouldn't be doing things the same to make bags for the homeless and pass them out all week long. We put water, crackers, chips, gloves, cookies and a few other goodies in each bag. It really was heartwarming to see how many people responded. They were so excited and thankful. I hope this was one small way that all week we worked to keep the focus of Thanksgiving not on what we were missing out away from family this year but on what it should be all about.
This year since we were all on our our each person picked out a dish. Brit picked pecan pie and made this beauty all on her own!
We even broke out the China for a second time this year! We tried to fancy up the table and really take in all that we had to be thankful for this year!I did hit the easy button on a few items and it was totally worth it. We got to spend the morning watching the parade and even went for a long hike downtown before lunch. I must say that part of the holiday made it worth it!
With Covid, a few things were out of stock at the store so our turkeys this year were a bit sad to look at!The gingerbread house at the Arlington!
The hot water on a cold day...still cool as many times as I have seen it!
And a visit from our favorite Chicagoans! That always lifts your spirits!
Just a few photos I took of the girls in the neighborhood for Christmas!
Bring on the holidays!
